I was just being sarcastic anyway. If you're wondering or arguing about your maturity it must be sore point topic either way. In the end, who cares? We like what we like.
But it is easier to convince a none nerd friend to accompany you going to a live action super hero movie than to animated one, I guess. Not that there are many on screen here in the first place.
Thanks, rise of special effects! You make our taste mainstream.
The recent return of the X-Men to the big screen also reminded me why they're even better than normal superheroes. They're a team! Meaning there's lots of them, giving the stories and characters a whole other level of dynamics.
In other superhero movies it's mostly dualisms of one special good guy versus one special bad guy. Some movies like the last Spiderman or the Dark Knight leaned towards the X-Men model by having multiple villains but team movies are the real deal.
Looking forward to Avengers too, now that I learned that Whedon will write/direct it.
Namor is a hell of a lot stronger than Aquaman. He can command every creature of the sea like Aquaman can (Because he's king of Atlantis), but he can also fly and his strength level is class 9, super durability and a whole bunch of other general powerfulness.
(doesn't g-lantern's story arc eventually go into him killing everyone to rebuild his lost life or some whacked out version thereof? can't wait to see them get past the origin/first-flight stuff)
A villain known as Mongul destroys Hal's Hometown, completely with all of the inhabitents, including Hal's family. Hal kills Mongul and he "re-creates" the city and its people using his power.
The Corps do not approve (You aren't supposed to use the Ring except to defend the universe), but Hal is going insane so he seeks to DESTROY THE CORPS, this includes taking over the very source of their power "The Cosmic Battery".

Date: 25/6/11 08:50 (UTC)Since the Marvel adaptions prove so popular a Namor movie should be just a matter of time.
For me the movies are often the first real encounters with the Marvel characters as I read more DC than Marvel.
